Exciting New Class for Spring 2018

The Ethics of War, National Security, and Power

How do terrorist attacks alter the playing field of war and define the measures needed to protect citizens? Have the justifications for war changed with the threat of nuclear weapons?

Is torture acceptable to save lives? What are the moral implications of using stealth bombers, drones, and long-range missiles, which make it easier to kill people at a distance?

Join Rabbi Singer as we delve into Jewish ethical texts which can shed light on these very complex and pressing issues. Then examine case studies which will open debate as we supplement from scholars and leaders from all sides on these dilemmas.
