JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Marketing oversees the development of Federation marketing and advertising programs – informing the Jewish and public at large about the organization’s focus, activities, promoting events, highlighting leadership, enhancing the image of the Federation and the Jewish community, and working to encourage broader participation in Jewish life. The Director of Marketing oversees the design and production of all digital and print marketing projects, including our newspaper, HAKOL, and serves as website administrator.
 
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – MANAGEMENT
  • Develop an annual marketing plan
  • Daily oversight of creative conception and workflow production for the marketing department 
  • Develop project timelines and manage overall progress of assigned programs/projects; Delegate projects to our in-house team 
  • Attend board meetings as required
  • Directly supervise select non-director positions, including performance reviews
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – WEB COMMUNICATIONS
  • Act as website administrator
  • Coordinate web requirements with staff members to develop, design and create content
  • Ensure that the site is operating effectively, is user-friendly and contains appropriate, accurate and current information
  • Participate in strategic web planning to provide design recommendations and to suggest, plan and implement new uses of the web
  • Oversee email efforts
  • Oversee social media efforts - ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, photographs, videos and events) is regularly posted 
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – PRINT COMMUNICATIONS
 
GENERAL MARKETING 
  • Responsible for the overall content of the organization
  • Establish and produce marketing and communications elements as required by the departments
  • Leads the creative development of all general publications, directories, identity and branding, campaign, endowment and program marketing materials for the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley and the Jewish Family Service
  • Foster an environment that seeks new opportunities to expand and enhance the organizations mission – including sponsorships
  • Work with print vendors to obtain quotes, place orders and prepare/transmit digital data files
  • Create presentations for events and functions
  • Maintain graphic consistency across all mediums
HAKOL NEWSPAPER & SHALOM LEHIGH VALLEY MAGAZINE
  • Work with Advertising Representative and advertisers to create, design or modify, as needed, all display ads
  • Plan preliminary planning layouts; develop concepts and; source and/or manage photos, illustrations and other images to effectively enhance ads and editorial content; prepare final layouts and review pre-press output
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree (in marketing, advertising, or communications preferred)
  • Successful track record in marketing roles and creating marketing campaigns
  • Experience with digital and print marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing
  • 5+ years experience with design software, including InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator
  • Proven experience with graphic design, with a strong portfolio of work
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and follow-up
  • Model a personal commitment to the Jewish community and Jewish values
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed under pressure in a dynamic environment and comfortable with change and working in undefined situations
  • Knowledge of web content management systems a plus
SUPERVISION
The Director of Marketing is an executive level position and functions under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley.
